How Can We Help?

At Maromika, we are very experienced at providing psychological support and treatment to a range of difficulties experienced by adults and young people. When you can't see the wood for the trees, or are unsure where to even start, we stand along side you and guide you through the process to recovery and change. We work with adults of all ages and backgrounds and know that mental health difficulties do not discriminate.

These might include:

  • Anxiety

  • Stress

  • Panic attacks

  • Phobias

  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorders (OCD)

  • Depression

  • Sleep difficulties or sleep disorders

  • Relationship difficulties

  • Domestic violence and conflict

  • Past or recent trauma experience

  • Post traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

  • Addictions

  • Grief and Loss

  • Feeling ‘lost’ or without purpose or direction

  • Eating Disorders

  • Eating related difficulties, “disordered eating”

Dr Lisa has a particular interest in the treatment of sleep disorders and trauma, and in the provision of EMDR and ACT for the treatment of a range of difficult issues or life events. She has worked in Eating Disorder services for many years and this is also an area of interest and speciality.

If you are struggling with any of the difficulties listed above, or indeed, with anything that is not listed, and feel you need support, please get in touch to find out how we can help you.

How do we work?

We offer all our new clients an initial assessment session to help us to understand your difficulties. You are the expert on how you are feeling and that first appointment is about hearing your story and the issues you are struggling with. We then offer some suggestions for ways forward and together we can come up with a plan to achieve your goals.

Clinical Psychologists use evidence based treatment approaches and we are skilled at tailoring these to meet the needs of our clients. At the heart of our work is a passion and motivation towards change for the better. There are a number of different psychological approaches and treatment options that we can draw on depending on your preference, personality, and the difficulties you are struggling with.

These include EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing), CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), CBT-I (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia), ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), Mindfulness, Schema Therapy.
